The building construction of the industry or factory should be in the South-West portion of the plot

    More of open space should be kept on the Northern and Eastern sides

    The right place for the installation Water Tank is North-East

    The ideal place for storing the raw material lies in the Western portion



    The finished goods should be packed and placed on the North-West side

    The ideal location for constructing administrative area is Northern or Eastern side

    For staff quarters, the right place is in South-East or North-West zone

    Lawn and Landscaping should be done in the North or East

Boundary Walls and Gate of a Plot

  Divide the length of the side of the plot on which gate is to be installed, into nine equal parts and place the gate as shown in the figure. For your convenience you can keep gates as under.

 i) For facing East - Towards N-E

 ii) For facing North - Towards N-E

 iii) For facing West - Towards N-W

 iv) For facing South - Towards S-E
   

 Internal Arrangement of Office

 The internal arrangement of the office should be such that seating arrangements are at the SOUTHWEST facing either North or East. Accounts Computers etc., should be North facing and placed in the SOUTH-EAST, East or North region. The door of the office should be NORTH-EAST, SOUTH-EAST, or NORTH-WEST region.

 The Ideal Factory Concept as per Vaastu

 1. A compound -wall is a must.

 2. The main entrance of the Factory should be situated towards North, East or North-East to gain excellent profits.

 3. The entrance door should always be of a greater size.

 4.  A big Factory should have doors on two sides. They should be on the North, East, North- East or North-West.

 5. The finished products should be taken out of factory through the door at the North-West direction. This will ensure quicker disposal of finished products and greater profits for the Company.

 6. The South and West area of the compound should never be kept empty or vacant.

 7. Energy meters, furnaces, transformers, generators, boilers etc. and other equipment involving heat-energy should always be kept in the South-East direction. This is very essential for smooth operation of the Factory.

 8. The Storeroom of the Factory should be in the South or West direction. The Storeroom may extend from South towards the West. This will provide great assistance for continuous flow of goods in and out of the Factory.

 9. It is very important to keep the North-East area of the compound and that of inside the premises very clean and open or empty.

 10. The office in the Factory should be located in North or East direction. During business deals and discussions , the owner should always face the North or East direction for reaping greater benefit from the deal.

 11. The heavy machinery in the Factory should be kept on the South, South-West and West areas of the Factory.

 12.  The final products to be processed for sales should be kept in the North-West area of the Factory.

 13. The toilet of the Factory should be located in the NorthWest or South-East direction.

 14. North West side or South-East side are the best positions for the guardroom.

 15. Parking area be provided at North-west or North-east area also. However, in the North- East area only the light vehicles like scooters, cycles etc. are permitted. but without any shed.

 16. Water pumps, Bore-wells underground Water Tanks, Pumps etc. are best located in North-East area only.

 17. If overhead Tanks are to be constructed or erected, they should be at West. In any case South-West and North-East area must be avoided for erecting overhead Water Tank.

 18. Storing of any Raw- material, whether inside or outside in the Industry or Factory must be in the South, West or South-West.

How to improve your fortune with proper layout of your office?

First of all an ideal site, free from any of Vastu defects should be selected. After selecting the site, in designing a lay-out for industry and providing for utilities special attention should be paid for the following aspects :
 


1. The sloping of floors should be towards East, North and North-East, More open space should be left in the East and North side.
2. Building's height can be equal in all sides, otherwise South and Western sides should not be taller in height as compared to East and North.
3. Well, bore well, underground reservoir, sink, pools, swimming pools etc. should be located in North-East or Eastern zone, preferably between MidEast and NorthEast.
4. Stair cases should always be provided in SouthWest part of the building.
5. Overhead water tank may be erected in SouthWest, South or West. Its height should be more than that of buildings height in NorthEast corner.
6. Toilets may be placed in NorthWest or SouthEast. NorthEast and SouthWest corners should be strictly avoided for this purpose.
7. Weigh bridge or weighing machines may be placed in NorthWest or CentralEast.
8. Parking of heavy vehicles like trucks, tractors, trolleys or cranes etc, should be on the roads outside or if it is to be inside, they should be parked in SouthWest zone.
9. Cycles, scooter, cars, light commercial vehicles can be parked in NorthWest, North or East side of buildings. NorthEast should always be free from any parking of vehicles.
10. Lawns with big avenue trees can be developed on South and West sides.
11. Small lawns with fountains etc (without big trees) can be developed in NorthEast, North and East also. Here only small plants can be grown.

12. Administrative and other office blocks can be constructed in North, East, South or SouthWest keeping the heights of these buildings lower than that of main factory.
13. Staff quarters may be built on East without touching East wall, in North, West or SouthEast. Multi storyed flats may be constructed in South zone without touching main factory building.
14. Staff canteen may be placed in SouthEast.

15. Guard Room should be placed near gates in such an advantageous position so that the guards can see approaching persons, vehicles etc. without any obstruction. NorthEast direction should be avoided for a guard room or security cabin. For East facing gate the security office should be on SouthEast side of gate, and for North facing gate it should be on NorthWest side.
16. Time office should be placed near gate for entry for workers but not in the South direction.
17. Heavy plants and machineries should be erected in West, South and SouthWest zones leaving the NorthWest and SouthEast corners. NorthEast and centre of the building should be avoided for placing heavy machineries.
18. Light and auxillary machines, work equipments and tools can be placed in Eastern and Northern sides except in NorthEast, NorthWest and SouthEast corners.


19. Generator, boilers, ovens, oilfired or electric furnaces, switch gears, capacitors, transformers, control panels, smoke chimney etc. all should be located in SouthEast.
20. Heavy raw materials stores may be placed in SouthWest, South or West.
21. Semi processed materials can be stocked in South or West sides.
22. Finished goods stores, packing and forwarding can be in NorthWest, in East or SouthEast. NorthWest is preferable. NorthEast should always be avoided.
23. Maintenance workshop may be in South, SouthWest avoiding NorthEast and centre. Maintenance and consumable stores should be nearer to the workshop.
24. A temple (even a small will do) in the NorthEast corner should be built and maintained neat and clean. No material should be stacked here.
25. Toilets in the administrative building or in other parts of factory or mill should be made in SouthEast or NorthWest area and if septic tank is to be built for that purpose, it should be built in between North and NorthWest or between East and SouthEast.

  • Toilet blocks should be in the North-West
  • Landscaping and Fountains or Artificial Water Falls can be Constructed in the North-East, North or East of the entire site
  • The Central part of the Building should have enough lighting from the Top (Skylight)

Restaurants or hotels are the temporary use areas for people where they have their lunch or dinner or sometimes perform their business works also. The fame the popularity of these hotels and restaurants depend upon the arrangement and facilities provided by them for the customers. It is possible only when they are built in accordance with the rules of Vastu.

CONSIDERATIONS IN DESIGNING A RESTAURANT/ HOTEL

The plot for building a hotel/restaurant should have square, rectangle, hexagonal, singhmukhakar, octagonal or circular shape. These shapes are preferred to be profitable.
Roads on all four sides of the plot are very auspicious.
Building should be constructed in such a way that more space should be kept open towards north and east.
The main entrance of the hotel/restaurant should be in east or north or North-East directions. If it is west then it should be in North-West but nit in South-West.
In the hotels and restaurant services, the kitchen requires a large space, good light and ventilation. Preferably, the kitchen should be at ground floor in southeast zone. All electrical appliances like ovens, grinders and mixers used in kitchen could be placed in southeast corner of the kitchen. Storeroom location could be in west or south of the kitchen.
The arrangements in the room should be in such a way that the beds should be in south or west only so that he/she sleeps with his head in west or south only.
Toilets in the rooms should be in North-West or South-West only.
Bathrooms should be in East or West only.
Swimming pools, underground water tanks wells etc should be built in North-East side only.
The air conditioner plants should be placed and operated from the South-East direction only.
Elevators should be placed in the south zone only.
Colors to be used are orange, yellow, cream and brown in the interior as well as the menu design
Store rooms should be ideally placed in South-West.
Kitchen should be in the South-East direction only.
The cash counters should be made such that the person who sits at that particular designation should face East or North.
The North-East portion of Hotel/Restraunt should be kept clean or incorporate some water source or fountain over that place

Celebrate modern Deepawali as per Vaastu tradition


Dipawali is the festival of joy and attaining positive vibrations. The festival of vibrancy actually starts with Dhanteras- the day of  Goddess Laxmi and Lord Kuber puja, followed by Kalikachaturdasi or Chotti diwali – a day to remove all negative vibrations from our house and surroundings. Put floating candles with rose petals and pure water in the centre of the house to ensure positivity in the house.

    Calculations in VaastuShastra

    AAYADI - DIMENSIONS:

    In Vaastu Shastra, a set of six formulae called Aayadi are used to work out the Length, Breadth, perimeter, area and the height of the building. According to Vaastu Shastra, it is necessary that one follows the Aayadi formulae strictly in order to experience positive effects within the building.

    Aayadi constitutes six formulae Aaya, Vyaya, Yoni, Raksha, Vara and Tithi. The remainder obtained by using these formulae, determines whether it is gain or loss. If it is a gain, then the structure is proportionate and stable and the dimensions are right. However if it is a loss, then it means the dimensions are not right and should be suitably corrected.
    • Aaya- is the remainder obtained when Length is multiplied by 8 and divided by 12
    • Raksha- is the remainder obtained when Length is multiplied by 8 and divided by 27
    • Vyaaya- is the remainder obtained when Breadth is multiplied by 9 and divided by 10
    • Yoni- is the remainder obtained when Breadth is multiplied by 3 and divided by 8
    • Vara- is the remainder obtained when Height is multiplied by 9 and divided by 7
    • Tithi- is the remainder obtained when Height is multiplied by 9 and divided by 30
    FIXING LENGTH OF BUILDING/ROOMS:
    • Aaya and Raksha formuale are used to fix both the Length of the building and of the rooms.
    • Aaya also known as 'aadhayam', means income and 'Vyaya' means loss or expenditure. Therefore, the Aaya should always be greater than the Vyaya.
    • Using the Aayadi formulae it has been concluded that for the Aaya to be more than the Vyaya the length of rooms/building should preferrably be 1.5 times the breadth or at least 1.375 times the width.
    • This is why we find that sites are generally not square but rectangular with a Length 1.375 - 1.5 times the Breadth. For example: Sites have dimensions of 40 x 60, 30 x 40, 30 x 45, and 50 x 80.
    FIXING THE BREADTH OF BUILDING/ROOMS:
    • The Yoni and Vyaya formulae are used for fixing the breadth of the building.
    • If the Yoni obtained is an odd remainder, then it is good whereas if it is even, then it is considered bad Yoni.
    • 1, 3, 5 and 7 remainders are considered good Yoni and are associated with the directions East, South, West and North, respectively.
    • Therefore depending on the direction the building faces, the corresponding Yoni should be used to fix the breadth of the building/rooms.
    • The Yoni of the first floor should be the same as the Yoni of the ground floor.
    • When an old house is being renovated, then a new Yoni different from the Yoni of the old house should be used for the renovated house.
    FIXING THE DIMENSIONS DEPENDING ON THE ORIENTATION:
    • The Yoni formula defining the breadth measurement is useful for buildings that are not oriented to the cardinal directions.
    • Vastu Shastra clearly emphasizes the importance of orienting buildings towards the four cardinal directions (North, East, South or West) so that they can withstand the impact of monsoon winds and natural energies and also benefit from them.
    • As far as possible, buildings should not be oriented to the intermediate directions.
    • But in rare situations, if the site faces an intermediate direction, the Yoni formula should be used so that the remainder is 1. This will ensure that the dimensions of the building are such that it can withstand the forces of nature.
    FIXING THE HEIGHT OF BUILDING:
    • The height of the building can be fixed using the Vara and Tithi formulae.
    • The height of the first floor should not be more than that of the Ground floor.
    UNITS OF MEASUREMENT IN VAASTU SHASTRA:

    In the olden days the units of measurement were the Angula (3/4 of an inch) and Hasta ( 18 inches) so that 1 Hasta equals 24 Angulas. However the value of Hasta and Angula were different in different regions. Therefore, by using the Aayadi formulae for fixing the dimensions of a building, the risk of creating disproportionate spaces is eliminated.
